about
Here is a song inspired by George Strait and George Lucas. From West World to Jet Black Berries' Sundown On Venus my imagination has always captivated my imagination. This song takes place in the comatose dreams of an unfortunate rodeo cowboy. The life supporting machines of the hospital droids in his opioid fantasy martian landscape. His fate uncertain to the outside world to him is just another sundown on mars
lyrics
I'm the kind of guy
likes to lay around and watch the sky
On my back watching stars pass
Spiders and flowers in the meteor showers
Share my gaze from the grass
It's not as fun as a rodeo
That's the still the way to go if you wanna go hard
Wild horses and opioids
oh these aren't the droids you're looking for
star crossed cowboy lost in the stars and the bars
sci fi western sky another sundown on mars
Last thing I know in san antonio
on a horse named cherokee
I went down I remember that sad clown
calling softly out to me
then i hooked up with this sweet, sweet machine
oh i love to hear her sing
all night angels watching over me
and sometimes in my dreams
It's not as fun as a rodeo
That's the still the way to go if you wanna go hard
Wild horses and opioids
oh these aren't the droids you're looking for
star crossed cowboy lost in the stars and the bars
sci fi western sky another sundown on mars

John Drumbo French from Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band worked with Thompson on two albums along with Fred Frith and Henry Kaiser.
Those two French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson albums led me to this.
Also, Richard Thompson taught Hugh Cornwell (of The Stranglers) how to play the bass guitar in a band when they were both at the same school (Emil and The Detectives?).
With a career spanning 50 years and playing with two of my heroes (French and Cornwell) Thompson has produced a fascinating EP. yellowcakeuf6
